Default Lease Buyout/Residual

Hey guys, for those of you who leased, what is your buyout/residual payment for the car? Right now I'm looking and noticing the value of our car is holding up well so those with a low residual may lose a lot of money. Let's see what numbers you guys come up with!

Lower residual = higher payment

Residual is established at the beginning of the lease and is fixed. If the residual is low compared to FMV at the end of the period, you can buy the car at an attractive price. If the price does not appear to be attractive compared to similar vehicles at lease-end, give the car back.

Yes I know that, what I am asking if what peoples residuals are because the value of our cars seem to be holding well which means for many our residual may be calculated too high and the cost of the vehicle vs. what it is worth may mean taking a financial hit.

A high residual value is your friend.

If you think the value is too high at the end of the lease, walk away, get a fresh car. Most do.

You are not impacted by a "too high" residual value at the end of the lease. Walk away as you are contractually permitted to do.

just like stock prices, buy low and sell high

if your residual is higher than it's worth - give it back - if much lower - buy the bargain and drive it - or resell for a profit....
