I have a 2013 Q5 and where I live all of the Q5's come with the front license plate holder. However, I was wanting to put something else. Any recommendations? My Q5 is black. These are what I was thinking:
1. Brushed Stainless Steel with "Audi" written - I can't find these anywhere
2. Brushed Stainless Steel with the "rings" - I found a lot of these
Before I purchase number 2, any one have recommendations? or know where I can get 1?
Thanks!

I may be mistaken but I think he is implying he doesn't want an actual license plate on the front of his Q, rather he is looking for a "filler" that would take the place of an actual license plate. OP, correct me if I am wrong.

When we bought ours we had them install the the non- license plate grill as part of the sale. Then they wanted to sell me the one they had to take off for $120. Wisconsin requires a front plate but every year they talk about changing the law. We are just ahead of the new law when they make it. Haven't had a front plate on any of our vehicles for at least 15 years now.

No matter which cover you have (US license plate holder or filler), if you remove the cover you expose the Euro plate holder. I went that option with mine. In AZ but both of my Q5s were originally destined for states with front plates (MT and SD). I used these guys and was very happy with the service and results.

Whether you get a filler panel or a plate panel is your choice on an order. A car that's on the lot will usually have the plate panel if it's in a state that requires front plates. If a dealer says they have no choice, they're mistaken. It's part of the order. But it's certainly understandable if that's their policy. You know how customers are. They've probably had people who insisted on the filler, but then came back after they got a no-front-plate ticket, blaming the dealer and demanding they change it for free.
The filler looks better IMO, but you have to figure out how to attach a plate to it if you go that route. It's secured by two Torx screws and some one-way plastic clips. It snaps on/off fairly easily if you're mechanically inclined and look at it closely. To add a plate, first get the appropriate nuts, washer and bolts and remove the panel. Center the plate over the panel however you want it. Make sure it's centered properly and then mark where you need the holes. Drill two small holes that are slightly smaller than whatever bolts you're using. Then fit the plate with nuts, bolts and washers. Put it back on with the plate attached and admire how clever you are.
