Liftgate Control Module 2 Fault
My apologies if there is a thread on the the fault code I am getting "Control Module 2 for Trunk Lid (J756)". The Liftgate closes but doesn't latch. I replaced the Liftgate Lock Actuator but that didnt solve the problem. Is it actually the liftgate motor or could it be the sensors by the strike plate? Any help greatly appreciated

Interesting.
1. General introduction
The tailgate is activated by two control units: the master tailgate control unit -J605 and the slave tailgate control unit 2 -J756. The master control unit (tailgate control unit -J605) is always located on the left when looking into the boot. Consequently, the slave control unit (tailgate control unit 2 -J756) is always located on the right. The tailgate drives and the tailgate control unit form a single unit. They have one part number.
Audi Portal: ECU Diagnostic . Audi Q7 4L (2007- ) . Trunc Electronic J605
Perhaps that will help lead you in the right direction.

Thanks gk1
I have the shop manual to help me. Wonders of electronics. I spoke to an AUDI Parts Department and they said that they rarely sell the limit switch located at the power Liftgate actuator and more of the control modules. Audi claims they are sold in pairs only yikes. Lets hope the fault code is correct and not caused by some else in the electronic network. Right??

Follow-up
I replace the Master Control Module only because the distributer sent me the master module instead of the Slave. Told me to try it if it didnt work they would make it right...okay. The power local assist still doesnt work, but the Lift Gate Control Module 2 Fault went away. Now I just have a 02201 Fault code "Trunk/Luggage Compartment Closing Assist Position Unlocked (F332)! Obvivously I am left with the original problem.

Total guess, but maybe it is possibly component protection and maybe can only be corrected by dealer coding. Sorry.

Protectionism!
Thanks gk1. I'll check into it. Hopefully the dealer will recode for a reasonable figure. Isnt the latch powered as well or is the connector attached to it just a open closed signal carrier.

Update. FYI for anyone who gets this fault code. start with the power latch. I started with the control module is wasn't, talked with a mechanic and he suggested that oddly enough the error code was commonly the power lift gate's power latch. That is exactly what it was. $93 Audi OEM part versus an $900 pair of motors with control modules. W.T.H. why doesn't the VAG call that out???

Apologizes for resurrecting an old thread here but couldn't find anything newer that was relevant ...
Clay,
Did you have to reprogram the j605 module when you installed it? My tailgate unlocks but won't lift .. error code per dealer was for the slave unit. I found used from a 2011 and replaced both motors but it still doesn't open. Do I need to program via ross-tech?
Thanx

Yes I had to take it to Audi. I an told that Audi has a database of electronic part serial numbers. The only way to get the car to accept the part is for Audi to verify that it is a valid part (ie. not stolen I suppose) and match it up to the VIN
Good Luck,
Clay.
