Update - Just spoke to the Service Rep. The Product Specialist was out to take a look at my 14' Q5 TDI. Unfortunately he was not able to reproduce the issue. Bummer! But went on and approved the repair based on a similar occurrence to a A8, and the information provided by Service Tech and Service Advisor who both reproduced the issue. At this point he approved a fuel tank and fuel pump replacement. The thinking is that pressure is not building fast enough causing the longer crank cycle, before finally building the pressure and firing. The service advisor should be getting the parts in tomorrow and providing me with a better update tomorrow afternoon. Interesting but hopefully a step in the right direction. At this point, Audi has had my new Q5 longer than I have. :-)
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sad to hear that they will have the car longer than you, BUT very happy to hear that a solution is taking place. Personaly I rather it happened now (new) than later.
Please let us know the results.

Update - After 3 weeks at the Audi dealership, my Q5 TDI is back in my hands. So excited. I went out first thing this morning and it cranked right up (Outside Temp was a brisk 34). So the solution, a new gas tank and a new low pressure fuel pump. My original tank and fuel pump will be returned to Audi for them to test and see if this is a problem that needs to be addressed. Glad this is over. Wanted to update everyone on the solution.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Nice to see that they did you right.
For my own start this morning, it was about 40F in the garage and roughly 28F outside here in the suburbs north of NYC. I did notice there was just a faint delay in firing up on this first cold morning of the season. Glad that yours didn't pause at all.

Heck.... I have a gas SQ5, and it has long cold cranks...
Seems to fire up normally with the engine at operating temps...
I have listened to the fuel pump when cold(usually runs when touching the door(keyless go), but it's a very very quick/short time that it runs...
I live in southeast Louisiana and so far, temps have yet to duck down below 45-50'ish... As well as it's garage kept...
While completely different(gas/diesel), I just wonder if there is something else like elevation, humidity, etc that could be factored in?
