More Monsoon Gray and Road Trip
So, three weeks ago I picked up my new 2.0T Q5 P+ in Monsoon Gray. I picked it up in Montana then we drove it back down to SoCal. We were a a bit pressed for time on the drive, but we did manage to stop by West Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, and stay a night at the Grand Canyon. The only weather we ran into was in the first 300 miles or so in Montana and Idaho. Snow and blowing snow kept things slowed down a bit. The Q5 handled the road great, note stock 18" all season tires. Couldn't do much about the horrible visibility. Our back roads stayed open, but parts of the interstate that we could have taken were closed. The satellite radio was great for listening to music, NPR, and college football when were in the middle of nowhere.
First batch of pictures show my new Q5 at the dealer. They had it indoors for me to check out since it was about 6 degrees out. Next pictures are going through West Yellowstone and getting into Idaho. Nice illustration of snow blown Monsoon Gray.

Final batch of pictures show the Q5 (after a car wash in Beaver Utah) in the desert southwest. First, leaving Page, Arizona. Then finally at the Grand Canyon.
I have to say, we're very happy with the color. We weren't able to see a real life example when were ordered. We were debating between the Monsoon Gray and the Moonlight blue. I'm glad we went for the gray. I think the Moonlight blue would be too dark.
Driving the car 1600 miles I really appreciated how comfortable it was for a road trip. My wife agreed, at the end of a day of driving we didn't feel tired and worn down just from being in the car. The power was a great, even up at altitude (we were up to 7000 some feet during the trip). So far its been great back in the urban environment of SoCal. A little harder to find parking now compared to my old civic, but its worth it.

That's my favorite color! My quartz grey is lovely...but Monsoon would have been my first choice, but the only one available at that time was the Demo!
Looks like you had a great trip, and got to put your new Q through it's paces!

The worst part of the trip was the first night with the car. I literally drove it off the showroom floor on a cold, snowy night, then out to dinner along snow packed roads to a restaurant 20 miles away. I grew up driving on snow, but I haven't do much snow driving in a while. The quattro made it easier to relearn.
