Default Music Download

MMI & B&O:
Apparently the hard drive will not accept a download of most CDs or an (any Apple product)Ipod. Copyright protected!! I have no problem DL CDs on my BMW 535i dard drive, but can't do it on my 2012 Q5!!!!
Audi says that they are very sensitive to the CR laws/restrictions-guess so!
All my music is CD, Itunes & my Ipod. I know I can play the CD & Ipod, but would prefer to Download the music onto the hard drive.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

The easiest way is to copy the music files from iTunes onto an SD card and put them on the hard drive that way, or burn an MP3 CD from iTunes and put them on the hard drive that way. If you have a vagcom cable, you can turn on the hidden menu in the MMI, and activate CD ripping. I have a vagcom cable, and didn't bother with that route, the SD card worked ok.

You'll either love or hate the way the hard drive organizes your music too. It has very limited structure, i.e. artist, album, genre, etc. There are no "playlists." I find that I prefer folders on an SD organized the way I like and then complete albums on the hard drive.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Mr. Dong, there's a small program you can download which might help. I'm going to try it to convert our iTunes library to an MP3 format for a Kindle. I think it can over-come the DRM issues

What formats does the Audi prefer in terms of music?

I'm still waiting for my Q5 but have been doing a lot of research... In my findings it looks like you can use Vag-Com to enable CD ripping.

From Itunes music library folder just grab & drag your music file/s onto an SD card and then either plug it into one of the two slots in the car and leave it or upload from the card to the hard drive (Jukebox).
