You should definitely do both the primary and mid muffler.
have you ever thought of replacing your intake as well?

Yes but the APR intake doesn't fit the 2.0t Q5.

Sounds good! Now we should have a comparison video for all the different exhaust setups for the Q5

Since it's your great idea, I vote you to put that together.

Wow, looking at your pricing, it's really gone up since I modded the wife's !!!

but you gave me an idea as she said she wanted a little more sound...
so considering replacing both primary and centre with maybe a 3" exhaust pipe back to the wider split tube...
(Apologies for 'borrowing' your diagram to show the green mile )
maybe even catback ?

will ask my exhaust guy as going too big may hinder flow or scavenging.

I already have two magnaflows at the back...

Can always add a third muffler if it's not to our taste...

Thanks for the impetus and will have a sound bite up to compare...

Yeah, it really sucks that there is no option for the Q5 when it comes to CAI systems. It sucks that the APR/Carbonio System doesn't fit, and they won't update it to fit.

This is another mod that I really wanted to make, but I see no options at all out there built for the Q5, other than just buying a K&N filter that is laced with oil, which I don't want to do to my car.

A 3" piping would even be better in terms of power. Get that as close to the cat coverter as possible. And yes, you'll have to increase the split to the back or it'll become a bottleneck.

So in the drawing, that primary muffler/silencer (the one right after the Cat) is the one that has all the small flow areas comparative to the mid and posterior ones?

Are the mid and the 2 post mufflers as bad with the restrictiveness?

What kind of HP & Sound increase do you think you would get just by eliminating that 1st muffler/silencer after the cat, and keeping everything else stock? It would have to increase both somewhat I would think. That would seem to be a pretty easy/cheap mod to do to get a little more flow I would think if you didn't want to put the money or effort into a complete new exhaust system/labor.

Yeah I'd like that mod too, but the OEM intake is actually well designed. It's already designed like a cold air intake. A scoop with a screen routes in front of the grill which gets cold air in.

That's probably why APR doesn't anvertise the HP increase in their website fot there Carbonio intake. Maybe their intake doesn't gain much or any HP.

I'd say the sound will be different, but no HP increase. Because the other mufflers will be your bottleneck.
