Very interesting post. My 2011 Q5 2.0T gets between 20 & 22 mpg. I was hoping that the Q5 diesels would be closer to 30 mpg under real world conditions

We also had a 2011 Q5 2.0T which averaged 22.8 mpg over 30 months of ownership. Check the fuelly.com site, http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/q5/2014 for actual mpg's that Q5 TDI owners are obtaining (including the OP Mark P). We're averaging 31.3 mpg, and are enjoying this iteration of the Q5 much more so than our 2.0T.

Am I missing something? Fuelly does not appear to show the average when you filter the car type (to diesel only..)

You have to do the averaging yourself...?

You can get the average provided to you, filtered by engine, if you don't first dive into the year selection. Here you go:
http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/q5/diesel%20v6

30.6 MPG for 11 2014 V6 diesels totaling 31k miles.

As you see below, it does (get right around 30 average across multiple owners). My MPG is lower due to new car break-in and towing a u-haul trailer for 500 miles of it. That said, my MPG is close to the rated "27mpg Combined", so I expect it only to outperform that going forward. Assuming I can stay off the torque-pedal

macwm - great report on your actual mileage. It is impressive that you are getting a 37% + increase in your MPG with the TDI versus your former 2.0T. You are getting this plus the increased power. Enjoy! I am still waiting for my TDI which is due to arrive in November.
