I can't seem to find a sticky or thread on all the various mods one can do with the Vag Com cable and yes I have used the search function. Fromm what I remember it's small stuff like a guages sweep on start up, or being able to open all windows and sunroof by holding the unlock button for three seconds with the remote fob etc. etc.

Before I commit to spending like $250 or so on this cable I was wondering what else can be done with this thing and are there any significant mods that correct Audi oversights or is it just kinda "fun" stuff?

Again, not trying to hijack here. Just think the cost vs. value discussion is important before comitting to buy.
I think you have some legit questions here - I would like to know the same. Also, if you screw around with this, any chance it could void your warranty?

I think all the "small stuff" is the secondary importance of it. The primary reason why you'd want it is so that you can check your own "check engine" lights and diagnose it yourself - and at the same time clear the codes. In addition, there are fundemental things like needing the tool to retract your rear brake piston to change brake pads.

I think if you are a DIYer, then its worth it especially if you can get it on a discount. If you want it just to make the car do "different" things that others - then its probably not worth the price you pay.

How many are needed for this price? What is the magic number for more off?

That's pretty sad, other group buys I've been apart of in the past you see at least 20-25% off.
