Default Nav Update?

Am currently downloading the latest maps to my Garmin, and was wondering if there were any hints about Audi updating their Nav maps. I know that even if they do I will likely stick with my (free) Garmin updates instead of paying for the Audi one, but was just curious. Somehow I expect the cost to be at least as much as a brand new top-of-the-line Garmin, which has lifetime maps and travel, but the convenience of the SQ5 MMI system might entice me.

Anyone heard anything about possible map updates for the 2014 SQ5?

You can obtain the versions installed on your car via the MMI.

8R0060884CA is activation for map 2014/2015, NOT map

8R0051884CJ is last map 2015

That will teach me to pass on something somebody else posts in another forum without checking it out.

I checked my own car and it does in fact have CJ which says map version 6.11.2 and firmware P0814.

So there may be a 2015 version of the map data? My current MMI shows 8R0060884BD NAR 6.8.2. Added a photo of my MMI (for some reason it is upside down? that actual photo is not) I am 'assuming' you guys that have the more sophisticated information are using the computer interface? Or did I miss some way of showing that additional information in the MMI display?

Will have to touch base with Audi USA to see if what their plans are to update it on existing vehicles, and if what the cost might be.

Thanks!

You are 3 levels back on Nav data. Mine is current at 6.11.2. They can update it at the dealership for a small fortune.. lol

Aren't the updates free during warranty period?

Nav updates for North American 3G MMI Nav Plus vehicles are usually provided annually to Audi by Nav-Tech and can only be updated by an Audi service dept. Map updates are not free nor covered under any warranty.

The cost to update can be as high as $400 (or more) depending on the dealer. The media itself is not the reason for the high cost but the multi-hour labor to install it. While a tech does not have to babysit the install for the full download time, it ties up a dealer's service bay for those hours. I won't even go into how ridiculous this process/cost is as others elsewhere in the forums have already covered it pretty well.
