Default New 2016 SQ5 What Discount Is Fair??

I have decided to go for a new 2016 Sq5 and a dealer has one on the way that should be here in a few short weeks and they valued my trade fairly but they said the discount on the new one inbound would be window sticker less 2% which I thought was rediculous or maybe I am just so far removed and out of touch this is a fair price.

What would you say would be a fair percentage off of sticker that I should be happy with? I thought 6-8% was more realistic. I know the dealership needs to make money and I am not trying to buy something with no margin for the dealer, I just want a fair price.

at least 12% is entirely possible.

Make your deal PRIOR to the car trade-in being mentioned. Most people can get 8-10%. But it does depend somewhat on location. Don't limit yourself just to the closest dealer, shop around.

Deals can be had. Just walk away if you don't like it. Also helps to find out how long a car has been on their lot. Trades are tricky as they will lower the overall price of the vehicle and walk you on the trade. Location does matter. Just look and call around. I have another dealer 4 miles from the one I used and they wouldn't budge past 3% on the same vehicle.

I got a bit under 13% off MSRP, which included the supplier discount of 6% (I believe the dealer gets 2 to 3% back). That was last November. I worked with 3 dealers, and just called them all up on a Friday evening and told them I was coming in to one of them the next day to buy the car at a set price (~13% off MSRP). All 3 had an SQ5 with the same spec. One told me I was being a jerk, and to go to heck. The other two went to 10% off. The next morning, one called me and said they would meet my price; the other said 10% off was the max. I told the 10% off guy I was going with the 13% off guy, and he immediately said he'd match it, but by then I'd already agreed to go with the first guy, which was more convenient for me anyway.

People get attached to dealers and want to be fair etc, but these guys are not your friends and won't remember you 3 months later. Push hard for the best deal and then take it.

Try dealers further out. 2% is basically an insult.

Absolutely, I got a $5500 better deal driving up to KC from what we were offered here in Wichita. Just getting the Audi franchise, the Wichita dealership was actually asking more than MSRP for some cars and people were stupid enough to pay it. I can drive 2 hours for $5500. I don't mind . . .

It is the middle of the month. Go back and make them an offer of 'x'% off MSRP (whatever you decide is fair) towards the end of the month when they are trying to meet quota. Also, consult KBB and try to find out if Audi is offering factory incentives for the current month. More savings!
