Recently got our first Audi. Was just wondering is it really THAT important to take my Audi to our local Audi dealership for checkups/maintenance or is it okay for me to take it to the shop I’ve built a relationship with over the past few years. Thanks for the advise.

How many miles does it currently have and what type of work would you anticipate getting done on it? Dealer will always be more expensive than any independent shop. That being said if your indy shop does not specialize in/have extensive knowledge with German vehicles, I would be leery of having them screw something up only to have it then get fixed at the dealer.

61,000 and I don’t plan on getting anything done to it. Just talking about the regular Audi preferred maintenance schedule.

Most of the "preferred maintenance" is pretty basic stuff up til 100k. Most of which you can DIY, personally if you have the tools/space I'd go that route. Even oil changes on these engines tend to be pricey even if you DIY, I just spent close to $70 on LiquiMoly oil, a Mann filter, and an oil plug washer for instance.

$70 isn't that bad. I buy 5 quarts of Castrol Edge Euro formula 5W-40, plus an Audi OEM 06J115403Q filter (washer is included) for a total of $35. Most Audi dealers use Castrol Edge.

Zachary hopefully you're in a location where you can find a good independent who's comfortable competent and equipped to deal with German, Italian, and Swedish machines.Very important that they have access to good maintenance/repair information, Alldata/Mitchell etc.Minimum VCDS software .Also very important that they stick to Audi specs.for fluids, brakes etc.
By the way choppstixxx I'm on my 2nd high mileage Audi, and have used nothing but LiquiMoly and the results are perfection. My Tdi with
225k kms/140k miles uses zero oil between 15k km service intervals. Not bad !
