New Q5 20" Tire Question
I just Picked up my Q5!! The option it had that I have a question about is the 20" Offroad Styled Wheels and Performance Summer Tire option. While the wheels are really sharp the tires are summer only and I live in northern Ohio!! The Tires are GoodYear Excellence (German Made and $330/tire retail!). I am quite sure they will be poor in the snow. I have researched these and while not real popuar this side of the pond they are popular in Europe.. Anyway my research on Tire Rack and Goodyear's web site reveal images of the tire tread that do not match mine exactly... The actual tire on my new car have more grooves cut into the tread and I was wondering if they may have been updated for Audi to allow for better winter performance? Please look at the attaced image ... your thoughts ..I have added arrows to the two pics to show the additional tread cuts.

Don't worry your tires are great. They won't be any good in the snow so start choosing a nice winter wheel with tire for next season. You will do fine.
Does us all a favor and post lots of pictures of your new Q5. Believe it or not, we all want to see it. Lots of pictures, all angles.

While it will cost you more overall, going with Summer tires for 9 months of the year and Snow tires for the other 3 months is a much better solution. All-Season tires don't do anything particularly well, either in the Summer or Winter.

If you're looking for a good all season, I've had good experiences with the Parada Spec-X's on multiple vehicles.
Personally however (as others have mentioned), I have a separate set of wheels with winter tires for that season.
