Beware that there are a few things need be done if you are in the same position, such as contacting Audi and let them know, schedule the inspection, etc.
Have you evaluated your equity in current lease? It could amount to thousands of dollars of reduction from your new deal? Get a blue book valuation of trade in value and compare to your residual buyout.

If you did this already, never mind.

Did you receive anything from the dealer once the order was placed? I asked for the dealers order and commission number but have not received those yet. I placed the order the week of 11-24...my credit card info was charged last week but still haven't heard anything from the dealer.

Unless you have direct access to Audi's order system (in the U.S.), the only way to get an update on your car's status is to contact your salesperson. A couple of weeks after the sales order, he/she can access the system and provide you with various dates on it's progress. See below for an example from a status report I received from my salesperson in 2012. Note that the ETA dates will evolve and will likely change over time. It's probably not a good idea to bug your salesperson to provide an update of the report more than two or three times along the way.

Once you have confirmation of the actual ship load date, you will be able figure out which RoRo ship the car is on and track it to one of the ports in North America. (Do a global AW search; there are several threads on how to do this). Once the car arrives in port and is processed, it will mostly be in a black hole for tracking until it arrives at the dealer.

So, I think my Q5 is on the Marina Ace that just left Emden on December 12. It's scheduled to dock in Brunswick on December 24. Anyone want to give their best guess on when I will get it in DC?

Figure five to seven days for port prep and customs inspection, one to three days for transport loading, two to four days by truck or train/truck and one to two days for dealer prep. Variables are weather, qty. of traffic at the port and type of transport to DC from Brunswick. Also, the holidays could add to the time.

Update: Our Q5 is scheduled to arrive in Port of Houston on December 23rd, and it may be delivered to the dealer in Seattle by the end of the month.
