Default Noise when starting on incline

Hi All, I am the new owner of a 2011 Premium Plus. I've noticed that when I start from a dead stop on an incline, the car makes noise (bzz-clunk) on the drivers side and I feel a vibration through the gas pedal, almost as if some mechanism is engaging. It only happens once and won't recur unless I once again start from a dead stop on an incline. I'm new to both Audi & AWD, so I'm wondering if this is something normal or if I should get it checked out.

Thanks,

Brian

Could it be the electronic parking brake engaging or disengaging?

Hi Bob, I don't think so, as it happens at the moment I press the gas pedal.

I think that's probably just the hill assist disengaging. Check out this video:

Yeah, that sounds like the Hill Assist. You can hear a clunk as it releases the brakes and there is a vibration through the gas pedal that lets you know that it disengaged.

Really don't appreciate the "Hill Assist"!
Maybe....MAYBE, if I lived in San Francisco and had a manual transmission.....MAYBE!

I think you need a VAGCOM to disable it. It looks like it's in the ABS module. I haven't really bothered to search for it as my area is pretty flat, but I can if no one else has the info handy.

It definitely seems like the Hill Assist. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I thought that is what this button did?

But maybe it is for downhill, whatever that is or does?
