O2 sensor

Took my 2012 3.2 to the dealer for a check engine light and they said it needs a new O2 sensor but it costs a $1000 to replace because it is located in a difficult place to reach and other parts have to be removed to get to it. Does this sound legit? I feel like I am being ripped off.

Doesn't look like a $1K job at all...........
Depending on what O2 sensor it is, you could need to remove the lower air filter housing which is not that difficult.

If you have quite a few miles, the sensors tend to start getting "slow" and some places will suggest replacing them all as long as you're doing it... Even so, $1000 still seems way high

No you're about to be raped by a dealer,Run. Here's the Napa Canada prices for the O2 sensor.( subtract 25% exchange for US.) Go to an independent (qualified) and get it done for well under $500.

Was the quote for replacing just the 1 bad sensor, or are they saying they'll replace all?

I just looked up the latest dealer list prices on O2 sensors for the 2012 Q5 and they range from $200 - $270 depending if the are 4 or 6 pin, before/after CAT.
At the low price of $200 each, I doubt that they would replace all 4 with labor for $1K.
