Thanks for the pics and help!

As far as the last pic - mine looks just like that - it's even white! it just has a couple of minor differences from the 2.0T you have pictured....
1. the pic is of a 2.0T - gasoline engined, not TDI. This and the 2.0 TDI that I bought are the two "base model" Q5's we get in Australia, $5k cheaper than the 3.2 gasser you get and $10k cheaper than the 3.0TDI!
2. The one in the picture has the steering wheel on the wrong side (but then, I've heard that they even drive on the wrong side of the road in some foreign countries!)

cheers

There is a thread somewhere (I think on myaudiq5.com - the english Q5 users site) about towbars being not compatible with sunroof and running boards. No one could really come up with a consistent statement as to why. I have looked on ETKA accessories catalogue, and there is a comment at the bottom of the page for each of the elements of the off-road package (as sold separately in some markets) that says:
Remarks Note: When retrofitting a Q5 off-road package, an additional fitting of the footboards is not possible if the vehicle is equipped with a towing hitch (1D4) and panorama roof (3FU)
Whatever that means
