Oil extractors
Has anyone changed the oil in their 3.2 using an oil extractor? With the oil filter at the top of the engine it seems like a smart thing to consider.
Thoughts?

Oil Extractor
Yes - I change my oil between the Audicare changes (I do at 5k intervals, audi at 10k). Anyways, I use an oil extractor and have had very good results, with the amount of oil that is extracted, I would say, best guesstimate, 95% of the oil is extracted. One thing to keep in mind that someone else pointed out is that you should at least crack the filter open as it releases an vacuum and more oil will drop into the pan. It is nice not to have to go underneath the car, and can do the entire thing in maybe 30 minutes. The unit I use I bought for may $60 or so, but it has a 11 liter tank so is enough to do the Q5 and my wife's A3 before I have to empty it..

At the dealer yesterday, I tried to buy crush washers for the drain plug. The parts guy said they got a bulletin from the Audi Mother Ship. Extractors are recommended. Plus you can't buy just the washer anymore, it comes in a kit with a new drain plug for $1.10 + $2.90 = $4. I'm guessing these two "events" maybe mean Audi decided using an oil extractor was less risky than messing with a drain plug (stripping, leaking, falling out, etc.). Often it's the least experienced employees who do the oil changes.

I have considered using oil extractor pump, but then I red that they in general do not last long when using synthetic oil -lose vacuum. I wonder which oil extractor ERPGURU is using.

Extractor
As for longevity, can't say for sure, been using for around two years and haven't had any issues with it other than having to re-tighten the bolts holding it together. It even states in the manual to check the bolts because all you need is one small crack in the seal and your vacuum is shot.
