Default Opinions on the goodyear ultra grip ice wrt?

Seems that my choices are limited in the 235/55/19 size. I want a winter tire that works better on cold dry roads for NYC. Pirellis out of stock on TR until feb. blizzaks too snow oriented and squishy. anyone try these goodyears? Not one performance winter category tire offered on TR in this size. Never thought it would be this difficult. The closest I can find is 235/50/19 which im not confident about due to the diff in overall diameter. Any advice on the smaller diameter or the goodyears?

That is my top choice but unfortunately, can't find it in 235/55/19. Only able to find them in 235/50/19. Not sure if the difference in size is frowned upon for the q5. Anyone?

Since it's a new tire, its tough to tell based on manufacturer and retailer promotional product info. It looks like gy developed a new high traction compound for cold conditions, rivaling the blizzak's compound. I imagine your concern is how it will drive when not on snow. We'll have to wait for the real world feedback to find out.

There are other performance snows avaliable from Nokian and Vredstein in size 235/55/19.

We had an earlier version of this tire on a RWD MBz wagon. We had good luck with it. I know we got a solid four seasons worth of use from them. No issues or worries at all.

There must be several versions of this Ultra Grip tire. I know at the time we bought them (6 yrs ago) there was another version that was more of an all-season design, probably a bit less aggressive than the snow tire we bought. I would see this alternate tire fitted to many police cars in my area. They'd run them year round so they must offer a good blend of traction, life and performance. HTH.

FWIW, snow tires are in short supply this year - - don't put off your buying decision 'til it's too late
