I dont have a highlander but my sister in law has a 4 year old highlander. It is the worst handling SUV on earth. When she drove our Q5, she could not believe the difference.

Sounds like the sis in law got a lemon. I have an 09 and the handling is a little mushy but by far not the worst I have driven. Drove it down to Texas with a Thule box on top through the big snow storm we had around christmas time last year and it handled pretty well. I test drove the MDX when it first came out and that was terrible.

RCM09:
But what the dealership says about the oil consumption? Are they willing to replace the engine if they cannot solve the problem any other way?

Consumption of one quart per 5,000 miles is not that bad, IMO, especially for a turbo. I'm pretty sure that AoA has an oil consumption guideline and it's probably along the lines of 1 qt. per 1,000 miles is acceptable. You can email them to find out.

Her Highlander is a 05, not the re-design 09. However, I have driven the re-design Highlander, although it is a bit better than the last gen, it still handles pretty bad. I am not sure how you define good handling, but the MDX, with SH-AWD, handles much better the Highlander. Driving your Highlander thru a snow storm will not test a car's handling capability. Try to drive your Highlander thru some twisted back road at High speed and you will understand what I mean.

Oh well... I got much more answers from this forum rather than from AoA. Feel like they do not want another customer %)
