As Bob said, there are some major issues affecting early 2.0T Q5 that are way more important than a failed mecathronic unit. So, if the car you are after has got new rings + pistons and chain tensioner updated then it might be a good deal depending on price. Mine is a 2009 with all those issues addressed, including a rebuilt transmission and I still had
to pour some money on it to have it running in tip top conditions, like a new intake manifold, leaking rear main seal, new engine mounts and a few electrical issues, nothing major but it adds up to the maintenance bill. If I were you I’d look at a > 2014, or even save money for a 3.0, or a TDI.

I hope that you did your searches on this vehicle for problems. If this is a 2.0T engine, 2011 Q5's are known for high oil consumption that may require new rings and pistons. There is also the problem of bad timing chain tensioners that fail, if that happens the valves will hit the pistons causing an approximately $7K repair bill at the dealer.

Does anyone know what engine support metal pads are? Audi told me I have to replace all 8 of the metal pads.. also the oil pressure regulator valve.. it all adds up to a lot of $$$$$ .. so not sure if these are urgent/emergency replacements .. any thoughts?
