It requires two hands to turn the wheel. I wonder how my wifey is gonna be able to handle that...
I remember reading on another forum that some guys were able to hack in some ADS-like mods even if they didn't have the full ADS using Vag-Com. Since the Servotronic is most likely adjustable through access to the module, it is possible that the previous owner reprogrammed a module to reduce assist. I did this to my A3 which had electromechanical Servatronic steering. Sorry I don't have more details since I haven't done this to my Q5 but you read up more info on http://www.a5oc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10568

I am the original owner of my 2011 so it's not modded. It's not an S Line, and it has 19's not 20's and I have the same experiences with the hard steering when just turning a corner on a residential street so around 15mph.

My 09 also has pretty stiff steering, especially compared to an A4 loaner I once had. Didn't the steering mechanism change on the Q5 from 09 -> 10, 11 model years? Correct me if I am wrong, i believe servotronic is the name for that.

Ditto... (though I have a 2010, not 2011)

I have both a 2010 S-Line and a 2010 Premium+, steering is identical on both and very light at low speeds.

2009 Q5 did not have servetronic steering (and was much tighter) and the '10 and '11 models now have servetronic. That's why the steering on your '09 is so much tighter.

That must be it. Only the ADS model had Servotronic on the '09.

Interesting. Even though they were in the same model year, a couple of Google searches suggest that my 09 A5 did have servotronic. So then this uber heavy steering is normal after all?

Still seems odd. I wish i had another 09 here to compare it with... I still may bring it to the dealer to see if they can have a look and suggest something. Anyone have a "preferred" service department in the NYC/LI area?

Actually, at least this article suggests that it always has servotronic...

Then again, maybe it was added mid-2009 production...
