Had the same fault on my 2014 Q5 hybrid on 12/29. Car still at Audi - apparently getting engineering in Germany involved on 1/4/16...will update with their analysis.

Honestly these recent posts don't make much sense to me as far as non-dealer fixes. Hybrid is from 2013 forward and is typically still under warranty. Also has additional Hybrid warranty and the whole emissions system warranty overlay for yet more overlapping stuff.

A scan with the Ross Tech VCDS scan tool may give you more information. If the solution is a hybrid motor swap, you should be looking for an independent repair shop and perhaps a salvage motor to be swapped.

Agreed. For 12,000 Euro I would sure want to see a detailed VCDS type scan. For earlier poster to be clear, it needs to be a quality scan like that from a device the supports Audi/VW vehicles specifically, not just a generic OBDII scan tool that is almost worthless for diagnostics like this. Also agreed, if it really is the drive unit, it would make a lot more sense to find a used one. Much better diagnostic codes though are first up.

P170300 Emergency running, control unit reset

U111100 Function limitation due to missing message

Assuming this is all of the codes, sounds like engine or transmission control unit trouble.

How about calling Audi Customer Care and see if they can direct you to a service department that has a higher volume of hybrid repairs.
