I've put my golden in the back with a canine pal for short hops and they did fine, but it was pretty close quarters. If the kids are small, you can slide the back seats forward and tilt them more upright and that gives quite a bit more dog space.

With 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 goldens, you'll be glad to know that the Q5 has great window defoggers!
