Has anyone had any success with updating the maps in the hard drive of their Q5?
I work in service at a Canadian dealer and our VAS tools have no information about updating the hard drive based maps...
We have no support from Audi of any kind. Our Audi Product support does not even know where to start.
I ask to see if any other people have had success and if so,
please direct me to the dealer the work was completed at.
THank you.

I wrote Navteq, the company that provides the updates for Audi, and they stated they did not have any updates available yet for the Q5, of any year. I was placed on an email list to be notified when one is released - as of my writing them (about three months ago now) they did not have an ETA of one even being released...

I'm in the same boat as you in that the dealer states they don't have any updates. What I do find interesting is that I drove a 2011 loaner A6 with the 3G MMI and I noticed that it announced the street names! As you probably have noticed Canadian B8 chassis vehicles don't do this for Canadian roads but will if you find yourself traveling in the US.
The Version # on that A6 and a 2011 A5 I checked were both newer than what I have in my 2010. So clearly the factory has updated data they are loading into new units but my guess is Audi is having difficulty trying to sort out how to update our vehicles.
Good luck

In Poland it is one of the items listed on accessories list. It cost 1400PLN (~$450!) and can only be done by service. Basically they should purchase the SD card with updated system/maps and follow the update process directly on MMI. Sometime during the process MMI asks for activation code that can be obtained only on-line from Navtek (as I understand the process). SD itself can be reused for other cars - is not what you, as driver, buy from them.
