Default Q5 for the new baby mobile

B8 A4 owner here. Need to ditch the wife's 1series convertible for a better baby mobile soon.

I really love my A4 and want to look at the Q5.

Any big gotchas? For instance does the 2.0T burn oil as notoriously as the A4?

What about a carseat? I'm going to have to push the A4 seat forward more than I'd like to fit our Chicco Keyfit 30. Curious if any of you have been in the same situation.

thanks!

I just ordered a 2013 Q5 2.0 for the baby mobile. Good gas mileage and safe. For 2013 they have rear entertainment which I think is a must with kids. Plus it's covered under the 4/50k mile warranty.

Oil burning issue should not be an issue anymore. That is resolved in all 2012 I believe. 2011 and below are the only 2.0t in the shop. I could not comment on the carseat room as I haven't gotten the car yet. I think it will have plenty of clearance in the center. If my wife doesn't sit upfront it will not matter.

At the dealership I've been sitting in the back for leg room and my wife asks why? she says you will not ever be sitting back there.

We have our second due in November. I got curious as we have the Cicco Keyfit 30 as well, so I went out and tested and attached a pic. It fits nicely behind the passenger side with plenty of legroom for a passenger. I'm 5'11 and had comfortable legroom. I've read some posts where the infant carrier has been placed in the middle seat. I don't believe there are LATCH anchors for the middle, but you can always use the seat belt to secure the base.

Hard to tell exactly what model it is from the picture, but if that's the Recaro ProRide, we have it as well, and absolutely love it. I have a Graco in my BMW, and the Recaro is miles better. Couldn't be happier with that car seat.

I believe it's called a ProSport. It's a forward facing unit as opposed to the ProRide, which can convert from rear to front-facing. I agree, they are great and very well built.

I have 2 car seats in the back and am 5 "10" and everyone fits fine. For the first 20 months or so I had the rearward facing seat behind the drivers seat and the front facing one behind the passenger. Now both are front facing. There is even enough room for my wife to sit in between the car seats in the back seat- and although not the most comfortable riding position she has done so on short trips when we have had someone else with us.

I cannot comment specifically on the 2.0, but we are almost 30 months and 27,000 miles into our ownership experience and have had no issues.

We have the 3.2 V6 engine

Thanks for the picture. That says 1000 words. We'll be taking the seat with us to throw in and test for sure.
