Q5 oil
#21
All I have to say is, the oil consumption rate differs depending on how you drive the car. All car manufacture's have specified oil consumption rates and Audi is no different. If I'm not mistaken, BMW, Lexus/Toyota, Honda, Nissan, GM, Dodge, etc., all have people complaining about adding oil, so don't think this is any brand specific issue. I see and hear it all the time with all the service personnel from different brands. Seems some people are trying non-synthetic oil to lower the consumption rate, but I DO NOT recommend this with an Audi with 10K mile service intervals.

This thread prompted me to check the oil on my 2012 Q5 2.0T yesterday and sure enough, the MMI is showing 2/10's level. There are approximately 11k miles on the odometer, and the last oil change was at 5k. So it's burned almost a quart in 6k miles. I've had 3 X5's prior to this ('01, '04, '08) and not one of them burned oil, let alone at the rate of 1 quart every 6k miles.
All of that being said, what brand and weight of oil is recommended? Looks like I need to add a quart to get me to the 15k service.

My S4 uses about 1L every 10-12k km and I am learning to live with it. The only other car that I've owned which used any recordable amount of oil was a S2000 which was driven hard (tracked) and still used a bit less oil than the S4.
