Default Q5 Steering Defective Do Not Drive....HELP?

I’ve had a week of hell, seems like everything broke, and now my wife’s Q5 is not working for her.

The car displays “steering defective do not drive”

I thought it was a battery issue, and jumpstarted it and everything was good.

We replaced the battery and I thought the problem was solved.

Then it happened again, I was able to jump start it again but now I don’t know what is going on. Here are the error codes, thanks to my vag-com.

Any help on to where to start would help a lot.

Hello,

This just happened to me last night and you may want to look at these threads as well:
  1. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...ilure-2896481/
  2. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...ilure-2972881/
My dealer doesn't open until tomorrow so I wont have any new information until then. I'm going to copy and paste a post from the second link I posted above:

Have not received any response from NHTSA about this safety complain, perhaps filing another complaint and referencing this one might help: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=11209594

Perhaps reaching out to Audi America, reference my problem as well as the similar issues in previous model years will get them to take the steering problem more seriously.
I plan on filing a complaint once I have more information.

having the same exact issue with the same codes. Audi service replaced the battery but the issue persists. Does anyone know what can cause this?

Default Reimbursement

Just had this happen to me. Currently in the shop being fixed. Around $3900 like most people have said. I did receive the extended warranty letter back in June 2021 and even attached that as evidence in my reimbursement submission. Just received an email back from Audi saying that repairs had to be completed BEFORE June 2021. Is this correct? My vehicle is still under the extended warranty limits so I have a hard time believing this. What's the point of the extended warranty then?

What year is your vehicle and what mileage? Did you read the letter that spijun posted a link of above? It has the letter in PDF format and says 10 years or 125,000 miles from the vehicles original in service date. What is the year and/or manufacturer date of your vehicle?

2014 and 88,000. That's the exact same letter I received. That's sort of my question. My vehicle is clearly within the parameters of the extended warranty so why would someone from Audi tell me any repairs needed to be completed before June 2021?

I don't know, you should push Audi to answer that question for you. I have a 2014 also and it was manufactured in 02/14, some may have been made in late 2013. I would ask them to answer the question or call Audi of America if you don't feel like you're getting the answers you deserve. You should be under warranty as far as I understand it.
