q5 trailer module and harness wiring question?????
Hey everyone,
I have a friend with a 2009 Q5 premium plus that has a trailer hitch installed on it, but when he got the car, it did not have the wiring for the trailer at all. He ordered 8R0971541C (hitch harness) and 8K0907383D (control module) and I have VAGCOM and was ready to install and code it for him, but the end of the harness that I presume is supposed to plug into the control module, doesn't fit in either of the 3 plug spaces. I know the Red plug that's on his factory harness in the rear should go into the middle port on the module, but my question is, am I missing something? There is only one part number I could find for the harness, and the plug isn't even close to what would plug into the control module. Can anyone offer some insight???
Thanks!!!
James

James you've come to the right place.Unfortunately I'm a dummy on this subject as I had mine done by Audi at delivery. Many here are knowledgeable on this topic and you'll get a good answer.

Even though I installed the OEM trailer assembly myself, I had to have the dealer do the software integration for the module. I don't believe VAGCOM has the capability to do this module installation, AFAIK.

Yes can do this. I followed a thread here and instruction on RossTech wiki and did my q5 OEM trailer module with VAGCOM. The are about 4 or 5 places where settings need. change. use the search function.

Codings Post 3.

Added a note, that I remember there is one more coding which I discovered few months later with a newer VCDs version, will check tomorrow and confirm. Other choice would be to visit the dealer.

So that pic helps me identify the difference in the plug from the trailer socket (the black one to the right). Does that cable happen to have a part number because I think that this is technically the right plug, just not for this particular module??
THANK YOU!!!!!!
