I'm a long time BMW owner that is having my current 535i bought back from BMW due to HPFP-related issues. Yesterday, I test drove a Q5 and was really impressed with nearly every aspect of it except the seats. I'm 6'2 and love the seats in my 535i which have a thigh extension, articulated back and adjustable headrest. A thigh extension and adjustable sides and headrest are standard on nearly all BMW sport models. The seats in the Q5 felt much smaller and less supportive. If not for the seats and my size, I would buy the Q5 in a heartbeat. The real question for me is whether I will adapt to the seats over time or never feel comfortable in them. Any insight from other former BMW owners over 6 feet tall who now own a Q5 would be much appreciated. BTW, this is a great forum, as good if not better than the bimmerfest forum that I'm a member of. Cheers

I too had my 535i bought back by BMW and got the Q5 as a replacement. I had the comfort seats in my 535i as well and I am 6'1. I love the Q5 and have never had a moment where I missed my BMW seats. These are very comfortable and I have taken it on several long road trips, not to mention a few trips per month up to the mountains. No complaints. They're much more comfortable than you may think.

I have a 530i M-Sport and am buying the Q5 for my wife. We test drove the S-line model 2.0TFSI and we both loved the seats, they were big enough for both of us. Mind you i'm 5'9 and she's 5'5

I can't comment on the NA options list but in Aus. you can specify the S-Line seats which have more support than standard and have adjustable seat squab length as well.

calberk95, those are the same complaints I have about the Q5's seats, the non-adjustable head rest and the short seat bottom. You are basically going down one model in the lineup when you go from the 5 series to the Q5. The Q5 is more of a direct competitor of the 3 series or X3. The seat bottom on the A6 and the Q7 is a bit longer. It’s a shame that Audi do not offer extra comfortable seats, but to tell you the truth, the seats in the Q5 is not too bad.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the insight. I'm going to test drive a Q5 with the luxury/ventilated seating and see if the seats feel any different.

Im 6'2 and I know what you mean about the seats, I have a 335i sport package and I really prefer those seats vs the Q5's. The other complaint I had is the steering wheel, it just doesnt have that nice feel like a bmw sport package wheel does. I think the s-line steering wheel might feel better, but I wanted a 2.0t so that wasnt an option for me unfortunatly.
