According to this blog, if you disable POP then the side assist won't be a problem...

This has been a helpful discussion. I am leaning towards a Passport 9500ix. Sounds like I need to turn off Audi Side Assist to make it work. Correct?

Does anybody know how I can get wires to go from the grill to the cab? I can't find any pass through to the cab. Looks like Audi made a pretty tight ship, Any ideas?

fyi...turning off the side-assist apparently doesn't really turn it off, as it still sets my detector off. I'm in the processes of upgrading my Valentine right now (12 yrs old!) so that I can disable POP.

Does the side-assist, when off, give you a false alarm intermittently or frequently?

On or off, the same. The false alarm (K band) is almost constant when I have my hitch bike rack on. Why Audi didn't actually switch off the sonar is beyond me.

pull the fuse! then again in our cars the fuse box is so confusing it doesn't affect just one thing

update. with my new V1 and pop disabled, it still picks up the side-assist (or the rear detection used w/ the backup cam?). When there is more than 1 rear K band signal detected, the V1 seems to latch onto the side-assist. I usually have to switch the V1 off then on to stop it.
