Ouch, that hurts...especially getting a ticket on i-87 where it is so easy to pick up the troopers with the RD. I don't think excuses fly with those bastards... The state is in deficit 
so yea, definitely look into RD's. I believe they are only illegal in Virginia, DC and Canada... So you should be fine.
