You might be able to turn down the radio, but it will always come back on when the car is restarted.

At least in the 2013 model - you can go into the MMI under car settings I believe or somewhere in the menus and there is an option on what you want the radio turned to when you start the car back up again. You either get what it was left on prior to leaving, silent or you can select any volume level that you prefer.

You could also turn the system off by pushing the volume **** twice.

I have an '11 too. I think the only solution is the two-second push of the power button which brings on the four-ring logo and the "Audi Infotainment" label. It stays that way when the ignition is turned back on/engine started, until you turn the radio back on.
