Default Real spin out on ice

My A5 Quattro has new Pirelli allweather tires. Driving today for first time in serious snow storm and wet snow highway, the backend started to spin out as I tried to accelerate. I did not expect that on an Audi Quattro. Should that be normal for this car or might some power distribution sensor to the back wheels be malfunctioning?

First of all you're in the wrong forum.
Second quattro means nothing if you don't have the right tires.
Dedicated winter tires will always perform better in snow than all seasons.
Quattro will help get you going but the right tires will get you stopped safely.

Well... my experience even with superior winter tires (blizzak dm-v1) the Audi stabilization program really does let things go too far to be really comfortable. I think Audi needs a 3 level ESP - none, regular and ice - I've found, for example, the new Chrysler 300 to be excellent! on ice - catches even slight wheel spin and yaw very quickly. Even with top of the line winter tires you cannot let the vehicle get as bent out of shape as the standard Audi stabilization does because (on ice) it's simply too late and the vehicle will spin. I've done a number of tests with our new '12 Q5 2.0T and I would say my testing on ice shows that it's about like the last generation stabilization available on Asian and North American vehicles - cars like the Mitsu Outlander and Chrysler 300 are a generation ahead of Audi in this regard.

An intrusive stability program doesnt make it more advance. What the Q5 really needs is a snow mode.

Agreed - I was using the examples as evidence that the technology to this is out there hence my suggestion "Audi needs a 3 level ESP - none, regular and ice..."

Or we all need to remember that the electronic nannies cannot cure all and drive appropriately.
