Default Rear creaking noise when going over bumps / hills / driveway

Hey guys, I have a 2017 Q5 3.0 with adaptive damping suspension (6k miles). Recently, I had noticed a fairly loud creaking noise coming from the passenger rear suspension area when going in / out of driveways, hills, or any kind of bump where the car / chassis is flexing. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed the creaking noise does exist and got in contact with Audi engineers to help them diagnose. They replaced the control arm, bushings, and lastly the shock itself. The noise did subside somewhat with the new shock but slowly the noise came back at full force within a day or two. Audi is stumped as am I.

Has anyone had this happen to their Q5?

mine seems to be coming from the rear passenger side suspension area which can be heard inside the cabin.. It's pretty loud whenever i go uphill at a angle or whenever I hit a dip in the road.

Do you have the rear cargo cover/privacy cover installed?

If you have the rear cover/shelf, then remove it and go for a drive. I don't have adaptive suspension but had similar creeking noises coming from the rear of the vehicle when going driving on rough roads. When I removed the cover the noise stopped. Took it to the dealer and they apparently lubed the rear hatch trim and it generally fixed the issue.

Check your sway bars bushings. Sometimes they squeak and need lubing

Default Sometimes it is not what you think...

Have you tried a bit of white lithium grease on the hatch latching mechanism and the hatch bump stops??

Short story -- I had a new 2013 Range Rover Evoque (probably worst car I ever purchased, but that is another story). Had the same noise you describe. Creaked over speed bumps and even developed into what seemed a full-blown rattle at highway speeds on the GW Parkway. I went so far as removing the rear cargo cover, load floor cover, removed spare tire and lay down in the back while my wife drove it around Ft Hunt park at 5-10 mph going over speed bumps. Couldn't figure it out.

Finally tried a bit of white lithium on the latch mechanism. Noise went away and didn't return.

Sometimes it isn't coming from where you think it is. With a relatively large, cavernous cabin, sounds bounce around...

Thanks everyone, I will try the suggestions you all have mentioned and will report back my findings. Happy Holidays!

Yes, Mine has developed creaking on both sides rear, My Q5 is a 2011 model so it was secondhand when I got it in November 2020 and it was fine but now it creaks and it's really annoying, I don't understand what's causing it.
