I lurk here from time to time but am usually on AZ. I registered just to say THANKS for posting about this fix. It made a world of difference on my rack, and can barely hear any wind noise at 70 mph. Worked like a charm on my 2010's cross bars.

Mine came with the rubber strips and I’ve never had any issues with them. They do have a part number on the underside of them. I didn’t like the silver look of the bars with the black optics package so I wrapped mine in vinyl.

My 2017 Q5 roof rack seems to have the ridges ok n the rubber part already. Are these the same as the thule ones? I assume some older models have the smooth surface vs the thule areo type?
