Retrofit DRL on Q5 2.0T Premium
So when I bought my Q5, I went for the base premium package, which I now kind of regret. I know this topic was brought up before, but the information in the thread wasn't really that useful. Do you guys know if I bought the OEM DRL Headlamps (http://oemplus.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=933) how I would go about installing them? And would it ruin the warranty?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well, if anyone cares to know the answer, this is what my sales rep said:
"I just checked with our service manager about the OEM Bi-Xinon lights for your Q5. He recomended not to do it due to cost and it may not work. He said it will effect your head light and wiring warranty."
So...yup.

Given used car prices are very high, and the Q was in a period of short supply....
You considered selling or trading in ?
You might be surprised by the difference
at least it won't cost anything but a little time to research it !

I was thinking about trading it in for a Premium Plus edition, but with the 2.0T trim it's pretty difficult! And I just spoke with the sales rep again--said it would cost $6,000 for the parts and labor. Pretty steep!

But they don't really compare with our A4 Cab with adaptive xenons.

The halogen lights on our Q5's are among the best there is for non-xenon. The bulb change is pretty easy and there is a coding mod for the DRLs that makes them look much better than stock. (Enabling the parking lights with the DRLS)

Putting HID's in the Q5 headlight housing is a bad plan. The optics (non-projectors) aren't good for HID's and the wiring would be a hack that will be hard to make watertight into the housing itself. Also there are posts that the cheap HID kit fry delicate components such as the winshield wiper systems due to voltage spikes back feeding.
You can get brighter stock wattage halogen bulbs and there are some now that are supposed to last as long as the stock ones.
