28 inches from the center of the front cross bar to the center of the rear cross bar. Perhaps a hair under, like 27 7/8".

The width from the inside of one side rail to another is 43.5 inches. Wasn't sure exactly which dimensions you were looking for.

Thanks for your help that is very helpfull. I have been offered a roof rack from a q5 and was seeing if they will go on a q7 as its a long trip there and back

I would doubt they're compatible since the Q7 is a much bigger vehicle but I could be wrong.

If you do take up the Q5 racks, make sure to ask for the TORQUE WRENCH which has a security tip, to match those racks. Otherwise you'll have to buy one from a dealer.

There are many different wrenches, I believe 7 different tips, so you need the correct wrench to match your racks.
