Default Roof top carrier. Recommendations?

Does anybody have a recommendation for a roof top carrier for the Q5? It would be for luggage and the related items you take on a long road trip.

Thanks for any help.

I likely Thule too. One word of caution though. Most of if is plastic so if you buy one really inspect the latching mechanisms. I had to ship the first one back to Amazon since part of one of the latches arrived busted.

I've had a Thule Evolution for 3 years and used it more than 10 times. My brother has used it 3 times. It's big and holds a lot. So far it's been flawless in service. It'll knock your mileage back at least 4mpg.
FWIW, never use a deflector with the carrier in place.

I have the Ascent 1600. I packed a tonne of crap into it for a 3500 miles trip home and back. I tracked my mpg the entire trip and had averaged between 27-29mpg. The internal shape does not really lend itself to square luggage but more conformable bags and even the vacuum space-bags which are great until you poke a hole in them. I think i would prefer the 1800 model for a little extra space.

FYI: go to REI and buy it there. They have a 100% return policy no matter what. This way you can buy one try it out and if you think it sucks or want a larger/smaller on just take it back and get what you want.
