So Audi doesn't list in their normal scheduled maintenance to rotate the tires, but I have read of numerous people on this forum having them rotated by their dealer anyways. Since Audi doesn't recommend it, is it necessary. If so, is it just a back to front and vice versa rotate? Would prefer to do it myself if necessary.

Discount likes to recommend every 5K miles. Most tires are directional so one just rotates right side front to rear and left side front to rear.

If the tires you have are not directional (i.e. a arrow indication tire direction) then a cross hatch is fine.

I guess the question also is why isn't this on Audi's schedule to begin with?

Wait.. You're supposed to rotate tires? Oh damn! That explains why I have to replace tires so often.

A rotation is in Audi's maintenance schedule at the first service the 5K, then they expect you to do it from then on, most Q5's on get around 25k in a set of tires anyway
