Default SQ5 1/4 mile times

Hi guys,

I'm new to this Forum but I have found some very useful information in regards to the Audi SQ5. I have been on 2 separate test dives and have been very impressed with the car but have been left wondering each time is the car as fast as the specifications sate. After a bit more research I stumbled across this page stating the SQ5's 1/4 mile time is 14.8. Can anyone confirm this time?

I am quiet disappointed if this is the case as it has come down to the audi SQ5 and the the BMW X5 M50 D which has a slower 0-100 of 5.4 vs the SQ5's 5.1 but the BMW runs the1/4 mile at 13.8 which on the drag strip is a *** whopping. None the less I am in love with the car and in the final stages until the negotiating begins. Just looking to see if any one has actually run the car down the strip or if they have seen better results

Thanks guys

LOL
Compares car BMW X5M $ 88,000 with 555HP 4.4-liter, M TwinPower Turbo V-8 engine with Audi SQ5 $ 52,000 3.0TFSI with 354HP Impossible

or

If you think the diesel version of the X5 M50d 381HP price 84.800 EUR in comparison with SQ5 3.0 313HP Price 59.300 EUR difference is only cca 25.000 EUR

PS:On the USA market do not exist diesel version BMW M5D and Audi SQ5 TDI

SQ 3.0 TFSI 0-100km/h 5.3s http://www.audiusanews.com/pressrele...354-dynamic-hp
SQ 3.0 TDI 0-100km/h 5.1s

As far as I know rival Audi Q5 is BMW X3 not X5:

I don't see a link to a page with 1/4 times.

Per another, recent post here, Audi is stating the TFSI SQ5 as having a 5.1 sec 0-60mph and the TDI SQ5 as having a 5.3 0-100kph. The 5.1 probably converts to 5.3.

1/4 mile are elusive:
Yahoo auto doesn't have much credibility but they're showing 14.25 (but 0-60 at 5.9)

I guess we'll have to wait for the US car mags to do their thing.

I agree with Spijun, these are different machines.

100kph is only 62mph, so the time would only be 5.1 or 5.2.
It's nit-picking I know, but you wouldn't lose 0.2secs on 2 mph.

I didn't realise your (US) version of the SQ5 was a TFSI engine.
I wonder why? Americans won't buy diesels or something?
Australia is traditionally a petrol market, but we're getting the TDI version!

Many of us here in the US wish we were getting the TDI SQ5 also - and let's not start talking about ride height either.

Actually you do lose 0.2 seconds for 2mph...

Also - this link has the ACTUAL figures for the TDI and TFSI SQ5, most of those mentioned on this thread so far are inaccurate.

As I'm sure someone will ask for the math...

2mph out of 62 as a percentage is 3.23%

0.2 seconds out of 5.3 as a percentage is 3.77%

So with a degree of 0.54% error (which is easily enough to cover the non-linear acceleration due to torque/bhp curve and exponentially increasing aero resistance with speed) 2 mph more does take 0.2 seconds at 60mph.

The Audi SQ5 has been designed specifically for the following markets: United States, Canada, Russia, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and the Ukraine. In Germany and many other European markets, the SQ5 TDI takes its place as the sporty top model in its series.

Thanks for the reply
It may not be a direct competitor I understand, but here in Australia I can pick up a demo X5 M50D for the same price as a brand new SQ5 and I am talking about both models being the diesel variant as I do allot of km's I prefer the fuel consumption and reliability of diesel. I'm not comparing cars to their direct competitor but simply against other diesel car figures and what money can buy.

And to confirm with everyone I'm quiet sure the SQ5 TDI does do 0-100km in 5.1 Audi has made that quiet obvious on their advertisement. Once again not interested in the TFSI as I do not want a GAS/unleaded engine

Here is the link anyway..
