Default Stains in the headliner

I noticed (2) stains in my headliner, both right rear, one back by the hatch and one over the rear door. Dealer looked at it and wants to have at it to find the cause. Initial thoughts are excess glue from assembly or a water leak from the roof rail mount(s).(No Sunroof). Anyone else experience this?

Yes! My wife pointed out two large stains on mine this weekend. Based on where they are and how black they are, we couldn't figure out how they could have been caused by the dog. Based on your post I'm wondering if they weren't. Would love to hear about the outcome.

There was a previous post about this issue in the last few years. If you search, you should be able to find it. I don't recall the root cause but I remember they looked at water leaks, excess lubricant, and other sources too.

Did search and it was on another site not here specifically regarding the Q5. The culprit was adhesive per that thread. Dealer wants to rule out water due to electronic failure possibilities.

Good news! Dealer found no evidence of water leaks. AoA wants the stained headliner to examine. Should have my car back with a brand new headliner tomorrow. My first issue other than some harsh downshifting resolved at the 5K maintenance.

Got my car back with a new headliner. Looks good. Had to re-program Homelink when I got home. I like my Q5 much better than the A4 3.2 loaner.
