Hi,
My vehicle is pulling to one side Q5 2012. We have checked all parts and all is well. Only remaining thing to fix is the steering rack which we have now decided to replace. My Vin number is WAUZZZ8R2CA061303. Where can i get the original steering rack? Anyone can give me the correct part number? The car is right hand drive.
regards

Are you sure the steering rack is the problem? Normally when this goes out it will be pouring fluid out of it. Adjustments can be made on the tierod end. As well as inner tierods can be replaced.
Hi,
I understand my vehicle does not have the hydraulic system but the servotronic steering rack. The issue is the car sometimes feels like its wondering on the road and pulling to one side mostly left. We have tried all other options so the only thing remaining is the rack. However, I have read in the A6 forum about the steering vagueness that seems to be a problem with this steering systems. Any advise would be appreciated before i do an expressive fix and still not resolve the problem.

1. Checked alignment?
2. Tried new tires? May have bad tire?
3. Possible dragging brake, stuck caliper.
3. Have you gone to an Audi dealer for diagnostics of the problem?
The dealer will perform a more intensive alignment than a non-dealer alignment shop. Notice the procedure calling out for the steering angle calibration, that's usually a dealer only procedure.

yeah I’m with this guy. I’d Ask the dealer to perform a diagnostic before replacing the rack. It sounds more like a hub bearing problem or a tie rod end. You can also Jack the car up and check for any play by pushing the wheel side to side top to bottom etc. I’m sure there’s a video on YouTube on this. Try rotating tires from front to back also. Although you probably have new tires on there? Has there been any uneven wear on your tires? If so please upload a picture.
One other thing to check to root cause your steering issue is to check the condition of the front lower control arm(rear piece) inner bushing. This is a large bushing where if the rubber failed would allow that side to give and essentially result in lower caster. The side with lower caster will 'pull' and will feel like your alignment is off and vehicle would want to drift towards that side.
