Wife drives a 2010 Q5 with ~10k miles on it.
Just got a call that the dash lit up with:
- EDC failure? Along with "don't drive over 4,000 rpm"
- Temperature gauge lit up
I told her to bring it home and park it -- taking our other car. Any idea what might be going on? Water pump? Thanks. I just want to be a bit informed before I call the dealer.
Scott.

Hmm. Thanks folks. Seems like a phantom bug in the system. Her water level is fine, and I can't repro the issue unfortunately.
These issue rarely fix themselves, though. i think I'll ask the dealer to see if they can pull some codes.

I had that issue earlier this year and the dealer had to replace a camshaft adjuster according to what Audi told them. No EDC warning since... that was about 10k miles ago. I don't recall the temp light coming on but I was just focused on that EDC warning.

EPC, electronic power control warning can be cause by a number of things, but as BCD-1 stated, the crankshaft position sensor is a good place to start.
