Hi Everyone:
I just drop my key chain on the Brushed Aluminum center piece of my sline Q5....there is little dent to it...I am wondering if there a way to pull the dent up and back to normal shape? I think because I am so careful with my new baby....and when every little things happened like this, it really makes me so unhappy![EEK!](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Would expect the trim piece to be more durable than that. I had the umbrella holder in passenger footwell come off during my first year and dealer replaced under warranty. Might want to see dealer will replace under warranty.

The dealer won't replace/fix a dent, caused by you, under warranty. An umbrella holder falling off is a completely different story. You might see how cheap that piece is and just replace yourself.

I doubt the warranty thing on that. I do know its a major PITA to change it out,
according to LarryV:
"I tried to do it myself but stopped once I found out that it was held by screw fasteners from beneath and that you basically have to remove the entire console piece and everthing else in the way (like center console lid going back to the rear vents)."

Cheap maybe, replace myself...doubtful. Repair/replacement required them to pull the glovebox, door and sill trlms then pull back footwell carpeting. Was in shop approximately 2 hrs. Didn't expect dealer to do it but they did. Doesn't hurt to ask.

What did it end up costing you? I recently noticed a tiny dent in our aluminum trim as well.

I just bought a used 2016 Q5 and I think I have the same problem. Tiny dents in the console frame. I talked to my local dealership and they said a replacement piece is $600. If anyone has any ideas on how to restore it, even if that means somehow painting it black, please let me know.

Why not just buy that part from a dismantler? If the dealer wants $600 for a new one, I bet a dismantler would sell it for $50 or less (you can always bargain aggressively with them). For example, I bought a headliner for a Porsche 911 that the guy before me put a golf club through which was about $2,000 from the dealer instead from a dismantler for $100. They sent me pictures before I bought it and when it showed up it looked literally as good new. Some things I would never buy from a dismantler but a plastic console frame I have no problem with. Pretty common part, just guessing but wouldn't think it's too hard to source a nice/undamaged one.
edit: I see. Sounds like it's a major PITA to swap it out even if you had a new part in your hand free of charge. There are shops that specialize in interior work like this. The one that installed my headliner did it in literally 20 mins (2 guys) and it's supposed to be a job that takes hours. They have obviously done it enough times that they are extremely efficient at it.
