Default Thigh extension for driver's seat

I'm wondering if anyone has converted their driver's seat to the style with the lower thigh extensions like the one pictured here https://forums.audiworld.com/attachm...1&d=1372702256

Seeing as how I am over 6 feet tall I would like to switch mine out. I asked the service manager at the dealership and he told me it wasn't possible, but I'm not so sure he is right considering that I have seen Q5s with this item. Any help is appreciated.

That is a Sport Seat. It is an option on the factory order. Part of the Sport package. It is available in Black or Brown leather.

Have it in mine. I'm just over 6' with fairly long legs. Works well for that, and can be adjusted back for the other shorter family members.

I don't have any specific numbers, but I would imagine it'd be rather expensive to purchase the sport seats and have them swapped out. I would think they would be a direct swap but the seats themselves would probably cost quite a bit (and it sounds like getting the seats in and out may take a while so if the dealer's doing it that might be a hefty labor charge as well).

Not one or two but several thousands.

Default How do you adjust the thigh extenders with electronic controls?

Could you please tell me how to adjust the thigh extenders on the sport seats? I’m fairly short but mine came extended on the car and I can’t figure out how to get it back. The seat has fully electric controls. Thanks!

Grab the front/bottom of the extender and you'll feel there's a lever under there that needs to be pinched to move it forward and backward.

Buy a good condition used set from a wrecker, they should be much cheaper than buying them new from Audi.
As long as the connectors match, they should take about 20 minutes a seat to swap.

I have looked into this, I found one person who did a write up on another Audi forum and the sport seats are not a direct swap because the wiring is different and can affect the airbags in the seats. Everyone I talked to from two former Audi dealer mechanics to a body shop owner and the dealer said you will have issues with the wiring harness. The person in the write-up seems to have gotten it to work but dealing with airbags can be a tricky subject to do at your own risk.
