Default Tires/Wheels question

I have the 20" wheels with the Goodyear Excellence summer tires. the goodyears don't seem to be that good compared to other summer tires, but I don't have much experience with them.

Should I:
A) keep the tires and get a set of 17" Winter tires with rims. prices around ~$900-$1000

or

B) Replace the Goodyear's with better All-Season tires. prices around ~$600-$700

(A) but go with 18" wheels and tires for winter. I think the 17" option will be too much sidewall and will result in too much wiggle with winter tires. If you have not used winter tires in the past, there is a trade off... of course you get better traction but the softer compound & deep tread will result in reduced responsiveness when turning. It gets a little "squirmy" and I think it will be a lot squirmy with a 17" combo. I plan to go with 18's both for summer and winter.

Depends where you live. I'd say winter tires if in north/northwest, Canada or anywhere it snows a lot. Otherwise, UHPAS will be fine. Check out the new Pilot Sport A/S 3.
