Original availability date was June 1, 2009.
After speaking with Audi Care, I was told the hitch would be ready August 1, 2009. Was told to make sure to pre-order the hitch.
No word today that the hitch is available. Purchased by Q5 in March. If I knew that a hitch would not be available for over 4 months, I would never have purchased the car until it was available.
How many are waiting on a hitch?

Waiting as well. My Q is sitting at the port waiting for Audi to fix their ESP software issue.
Hitch is (according to my dealer) to come as port installed. Judging by the instructions to install the hitch found on the Q7 forum quite an undertaking.
Did anybody get a dealer quote for installing the hitch?

Remove and disconnect the bumper. Unpackage assemble and fit hitch. Run wiring loom. Reconnect and refit bumper. Possibly reprogramme car or add module and reprogramme. I bet they have to book time and connect to Audi AG too for some reason too.
I guess if you had all the parts tools computers etc sitting in front of you and the car with cool exhaust and the experience of a previous run you could shave a few hours off but booking one in... Say 5 hours, that should cover it!

I'm waiting for the hitch too. My dealer here in Halifax says that the delay is due to some wiring issues that need to be fixed. I'll be in SC for 3 weeks (leaving tomorrow) and have emailed the Audi dealer there, but no news so far . . . a bit irritating, I just bought an awesome trailer. Was also planning to use my hitch attached bike carrier for the trip, but no luck

No. Just in my case it's held at port on my request to facilitate the hitch assembly. According to dealer app. $700 difference and they should not have to use my Q as a guinea pig, as most dealers will not have to many of the hitches being assembled and therefore would be doing the job by trial and error.
