Default true invoice in the los angeles area?

I had the dealer show me an invoice in the los Angeles area, and it includes everything I expected from Edmunds.com, though it also includes a local advertising fee, a southern California advertising fee, and a inspection aand preparation fee. The dealer said all dealers do this and it is non negotiable. Is this true?

when i saw the invoice yesterday at an OC dealer, it matches the 2011 audi pricing guide, but included 3 others fees (the ones you mentioned below-inspect & prep for $195, some Los Angeles fee, etc) for a difference of about $800 more.

i didn't assume they were negotiable. maybe they actually are?

i ended up ordering mine from scratch for $200 over invoice (including those fees). if those fees are negotiable, then i didn't get as fair of a deal as i thought...

1. So the Los Angeles Advertising fees are being charged to you even though you bought it in the OC?

2. How long were you told it would take to get your Q5 delivered?

I wonder why Edmunds.Com does not show pricing for the Prestige trim level? A lot of the options I want are Prestige only (Luxury Leather, etc).

An "advertising fee" is simply a cost of doing business. It makes no sense for it to be added to the price of a car.
What's next...a prorated cost for electricity to keep the showroom lights on?
So-called advertising fees are absolutely negotiable. They should come "off the table" immediately in any negotiations.

he didn't say it was an advertising fee. he told me they were fees related to the port of LA and other items that are included on the invoice of all cars. i guess i should have probed more closely.

i'm supposed to get my car in mid-late Feb.

Here's what Edmunds says about advertising fees:

You have to go into "Price with Options" on Edmunds to see the Prestige pricing and then configure it accordingly...

thanks for the link!

i know there are zero cash discount incentives available to me (don't own a 2001+ audi), so that would only leave dealer holdback if the dealer would be willing to negotiate on it. i'm happy enough with my deal, so i'm going to keep it for now.

I would check out Truecar.com - Shows actual data on sales in your area and a much better tool than the Edmunds "TMV" which sometimes shows ridiculously high amounts as what you should pay for your car.
