Wouldn't the other option be to wait until it gets scratched and cover it?

.
I don't see why it wouldn't as the bumper looks identical. Just personal preference I like the clear strip better.

How does it fit and how does it look from this ebay dealer on your Q5...looks like it might be kinda cheap quality stainless steal?

It fits very well. It is not superthick. It was a personal preference for me. I preferred the looks of "cheap" stainless steel over the "cheap" clear strip & the "cheap" black plastic texture option.

It looks pretty sharp and it seems like it protects the sill from scratches.

I pulled a trigger on the clear (hopefully not "cheap") trunk sills. I should have it this week coming up so will share the experience. I could have used it today when loading up a big box. Was extra cautious not to scratch the crap out of the loading dock area.

Got the package today. I will be looking to install this over the weekend assuming it doesn't snow, which particularly I wouldn't mind if it did. I got this for $63 and change on eBay and its Audi Genuine clear sill. Few pics:

I find the step by step instructions great. No text just do as shown and don't screw up. I do wonder what that liquid solution is. It doesn't smell scented or like any solution at all

Will try to show the finish product once done.

Liquid is probably to help you slide it into place and line it up properly before it dries.

Look forward to seeing the finished article!

That is correct. I was confused by the directions, but I put the liquid on the sticky side and it helped with sliding it in place. I think you will use the a plastic piece to squeeze out the water and bubbles from the film. The final step is to use a blow dryer. Installing this film was pretty easy.
